Preparing Your Quilt for Machine Quilting
You have put a lot
of creativity and time into piecing your quilt top and you want the finished quilt to be something you will be proud to display
or present to a family member or friend. I use only high quality threads and batting. All will be selected for their appearance, and
compatibility with your quilt. Here are a few steps that will help assure your end results are the best they can be.
1.
Make sure your quilt top and backing fabric are trimmed, and squared up.
2. Press the top and backing well, but do
not stretch. Use a gentle up and down motion. Make sure the seams are pressed flat.
3. Cotie's quilting is by hand-guided
machine. The stitching looks very much like the average sewing machine stitch. The stitch lengths vary slightly due to the
change in the speed of movement of the sewing head to create the pattern you choose.
4. If you have bias edges on
the outside of your quilt, stay stitch them with a straight 1/4" seam around all sides of the quilt.
5. Pin a piece
of paper with a safety pin to the edge you consider to be the top of your quilt, also do this to your backing.
6.
Backing must be at least 8 inches longer and 8 inches wider than your quilt top.
7. Please remember puckered
or uneven piecing or borders may not quilt nicely. Machine quilting a quilt that is squared with even borders and flat pressed
seams produces a lovely keepsake.
8. Schedule your quilt well in advance if your project must be finished by a specific
deadline.
9. I Understand that my quilt may be used on Cotie's Machine Quilting web page or for future promotional
purposes.
10. Please include a day and evening phone number along with an address card for mailing. Please email me
if you have any questions. cotie@wavewls.com
11. Please note that all fees are due upon the completion of your quilt,
(if not pre-paid) prior to shipping. I accept personal checks, money orders, and paypal (cotie@wavewls.com).

Please note that I am not always able to "quilt" over machine embroidery quilt blocks...pantographs are not available for
these types of quilts, instead freehand patterns are used to enhance the beauty of the embroidered blocks. Additional charges
may apply. You will be notified prior to quilting.
Quilts that contain, flange, piping or any type of embellishments are not candidates for edged to edge Pantographs, freehand
patterns are available.
